1918 Towed Gun ID
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Can anyone ID this? I'm guessing it's WWI German.

Mark,

This is a German 15cm. lg. s.F.H. 1913/02. It can be identified as a variant of the standard 15cm lg.s.F.H. 1913 because there is no hinge through the shield and there is no seat on the side for the layer. This was the last type 15cm sFH in production at the very end of WW1. The carriage, recoil mechanism and shield were simplified on this variant to speed production. This type also continued service through the Inter-War years and through WW2 in German service.

I have all the basic types of the German 15cm sFH in my collection including this exact type. The link for my web site's (www.lovettartillery.com) page on this howitzer is:

www.lovettartillery.co...13_02.html

And the link my research on the 15cm sFH series:

www.lovettartillery.co...llery.html

I have also added a photograph of my 15cm lg sFH 13/02 firing.

I hope this is of interest----Ralph Lovett

It's in Tooele, Utah in the private collection there. (Carl Smith's) I'm going to get in there with a camera some day. Wonder where I can get some burglary tools? Wink

I screwed up and deleted my photo album Crying or Very sad The cannon I had pictured is close by. Do you want any pictures of it? Also have the two originals if you want them. May be able to get over to SLC and photograph that one.

Thank you, if you get a chance to send them to me at armyjunk @ aol.com and the SLC would be great if you get there, all I know is it's in a city park.

I just e-mailed Salt Lake City Parks to see if they know.
