Trieste, Museo Diego de Henriquez: Sd.Kfz. 7
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Okay, this isn't an AFV, but it's huge and has tracks! Mr. Green

Good news is this old lady is in running order. It was restored to be used in the "The English Patient" movie, that covered the costs.

It was the first time I saw such a vehicle, much bigger than I ever expected. The only way to fit it inside a single frame was to use a wide-angle lens. I now guess how impressive a 18t FAMO should be Shocked

I don't have an problem with it, that this in not an "real" AFV

It's like you say

it's huge and has tracks

and it is armed, well the crew is armed with hand guns Wink

I don't think anybody has problem if we talk about softskins too. In case it would happen more often we could just ask to "spin-off" a dedicated forum, just like the one we have for artillery

"spin-off" a dedicated forum

That would be an good option, then we have an special spot to post picture's that would be nice to show, however are not AFV or artillery

I have put an WW1 Italian truck in the Netherlands AFV reg post, because I did not know where to post it

However it should be about special things, not that we end up with +5000 posts of the GMC 353 Wink

So far the "special things" has been more than welcomed here. Unless they reach a critical mass there is no reason to worry.
WW1 Italian trucks are cool, keep them coming Laughing

Post subject: Not an Sd.Kfz. 7!

This is in fact the larger SdKfz 8 12 ton half track by Mercedes Benz.
Not the 8 Ton Sdkfz 7.

Best

Gosh, You are right, I can't believe I did such a mistake!

I am away from home and from my library, yet I am supposed to know better Sad

Any idea about how many of these are still around?

Hi Massimo,

Vey few. Jacques Littlefiled collection has one (ex UK film prop, used in The Dirty Dozen and A Bridge too Far).

There is an armoured prototype version that was pulled from a river, thats in Poland.

Kevin Wheatcorft has enough of one to build one up in the future.

I think there are a few others, but I would guess less than 10 in total.

Best

Thanks David.

One day we should start assembling registers of these vehicles too.
