LTL-H (aka Pz 39). The state of the register
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

24 of such tanks were build, 12 assembled by CKD used gasoline engines, 12 assembled in Switzerland and used swiss Saurer diesel engines. Up to one year ago we identified 4 survivors:

- Sinsheim. R/N: ????
Not in great condition, disguised as Pz 38(t):
www.com-central.net/in...ic&t=12433

- Full. R/N 7543
In running order, but the engine isn't original
www.preservedtanks.com...iqueID=839

- Thun. Panzermuseum. R/N 7562
www.com-central.net/in...ic&t=12552

- Thun. SHP Collection. R/N 7573
In running order, with diesel engine
www.com-central.net/in...ic&t=12545

Last year I've managed to catch another Pz 39 that used to be in Solothurm

- Schaffhausen. Museum Im Zeughaus. R/N 7522
In running order, with gasoline engine
www.preservedtanks.com...queID=1038

Well, 5 out 24 was already pretty good. But there is more!

- Thun. Army base. R/N 78587
Used as monument inside the base, the R/N indeed looks weird, and it could easily be a mistake
www.com-central.net/in...ic&t=12546

I was super happy for chasing two such tanks within a year but... There is more!
Thanks to Martin Haudenschild I learned there are 3 more tanks I've never heard of before. All of them belong to the Swiss Army and are located inside military areas. None of them is in running order:

- Bure. Two tanks

- Vegelles. R/N 7561

I expect it will be tricky to try and visit these additional three tanks, but at least we are aware of them, and so the last count is 9 survivors out of 24. Not that bad Cool

I don't know. In the past I've tried to find the serial number stamped on the outside. But I've fund nothing so far. I know the place where the serial is located for LT vz. 35, but that was a Skoda design, while the LTL-H was designed by CKD.

Would be rather 7587... given that other LTL-H have a RN starting with 75xx, with 4 digits.

Dear Sirs,
i do not know English, but I hope my text is understandable.

Company CKD serial numbers give the right side of the vehicle in front of shield disc wheel, or in top plate armor, or elsewhere, as he wished customer.

Inside the vehicle was located production name plate on the engine bulkhead, with a series of data.

well, there was no SN 7587, the current RN is definitely wrong.

SN 7587 - yes, this would be bad writing!
SN 75187 - a new identification number established in the forties.

Swiss four-digit code applied to about 1942. Then there is a new five-digit code number.

I was at Thun for the annual assembly of Armeemusem Association. And I collected some interesting info:

- The tank near Thun's sport field is now in Burgdorf:
preservedtanks.com/Pro...queID=1211

- The tank in Vugelles is a unique, special vehicle, it's a "Panzerattrappe", a training version, the gun is a dummy, but it was like that whenever it was in service, it wasn't added just for display purposes. The rails around the turret is another special feature of this unique vehicle:
preservedtanks.com/Pro...queID=1253
This tank is now in Burgdorf too.

Ideally at least one of these will be restored to running conditions.

Hi Massimo

Vugelles: Great news, now we only have to find period pics which show this dummy tank in action.

Greetings
Chris

great news. I like the idea that Burgdorf will display the real tank beside its "Panzerattrappe" training version.

What do u mean by "Not accessible"? Last year there were over 4000 visitors. You just have to join a group visit. Very easy to do that. Will be there next week and try to take some pics...
