Seen on I-95
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Seen on I-95

I was driving North on I-95 south of DC yesterday (My son stationed in Florida had called on Wednesday and said he had tickets for The NASCAR championship race at Miami Homestead and asked if I wanted to come down. It was a great race ) As I came past the Weigh station just south of DC at about 2 PM at 70+ MPH I saw a flatbed truck with a Panther Tank on it pulling into the southbound weigh station! Now I know where it came from but I couldn't tell which of the two Panthers from Aberdeen it was. If I had had a few more seconds I could have picked out the visual differences I know between the two but traffic was very heavy and I had to get north before rush hour traffic caught up with me.
I couldn't get a picture and hadn't noticed any others headed south.

By the way when I was headed south on Friday I saw a regular progression of MRAPs being hauled north. All individual semis with one MRAP per truck. Many were 6x6 personell carrier types, some were 4x4s. I couldn't identify specific models.

Bob

You 'Lucky Dog'!!! I guess RCR & JGR will have to wait till next year. Not a 'J J' fan, was hoping for a blown engine on those last few laps. Oh well, maybe next year.

As for the Panther,.... I may have an idea, depending on how far south(!?)

Regards
Don

The Panther was at the weigh station just south of the Washington Beltway Near Dale City. I know where the panther came from. It was one of the Aberdeen ones on its way to Ft Lee. I'm just not sure which one (I didn't have time to look at the mantlet)

As far as the race. You weren't the only one sweating out a blown engine. I'm sure JJ got nervous when Jeff Gordon lost a cylinder early and limped around til the engine finally blew late in the race. Since they get their engines from the same shop I'm sure JJ was hoping his made it the whole way
