M12 GMC and M1922E Mk X GMC now at Fort Sill
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: M12 GMC and M1922E Mk X GMC now at Fort Sill

Hello,

I received an email from Gordon Blaker, of the US Army Artillery Museum at Fort Sill.

He told me that the M12 GMC previously at the Ordnance Museum was transferred to Fort Sill museum earlier this month. It is currently being restored at the maintenance facility on Fort Sill and should be finished in about two weeks. It will then go on outdoor exhibit in the new Artillery Park next to the museum.

The M1922 Mark X, known as Slo Poke was also transferred and is on exhibit inside the museum.

thanks

Pierre-Olivier

some pictures of Slo Poke in its new home, and of the M37 HMC. I will get soon some pics of the M12 GMC, once cosmetically restored.

P-O,
Glad you have been able to cultivate a contact at the Field Artillery Museum. I could also use some good/better pics of several items there - including:

2S1
M42 Duster
M43 GMC
M44
M107 ("Proud American")
M108
M110A2
M270 MLRS
M474 Pershing Launcher
M667 Lance Launcher
T195E1
XM2002 Crusader RSV

For most of the above I only have one, and in some cases no, pictures.

I could also use some clarification regarding what items are still at the old "Cannon Walk" at the Fort Still Museum, vs in/outside the new Field Artillery Museum (that includes the above plus the M37, T101 SPAT, T162 GMC, XM104 SPH, XM2001 Crusader SPH).

Of course serial numbers for any would be great too!

And finally, can your contact give any details/update on the Future Air Defense Artillery Museum? Right now I have the M730 Chaparral Carrier that was previously at Fort Bliss with the new museum - but what else? At a minimum there's a couple of M42 Dusters, an M163 and a ZSU-34-4 that also used to be at Bliss that I'm not sure of their current location...

Thanks!

Neil

Gordon Blaker is OK to provide some new photos from the museum, he asked me about your email address, is it still the same one?
