Much smaller beast than the 305 mm Mr. Green

This small infantry/trench gun was introduced very early during WW I. As you can see from the pictures below, it was quite complex/sophisticated from a mechanical point of view. The italian army was looking for a similar weapon and evaluated some captured ones; they considered it effective, but too complex and expensive for a trench weapon, unsuited for mass-production (less than 20 years later instead Italy build the Brixia 45 mm mortar, another too complex infantry weapon)

Two of this are visible in Rovereto's museum:

On the italian front mountain troops were fighting all over the Alps, sometimes above 3000 m (10.000 feets), so a ski equipped gun was handy Mr. Green

3,7 cm Infanteriegeschütz M.1915, L/10

Trench gun system Skoda. Four packs for transports (soldier, horse, or dogcart): tube, cradle, tripod and shield. Weight in firing position: 118 kg. Shell: 0,65 kg, Vo: 175 m/sec., Range: 2200 m. Cadence 15-20 rounds per minute.

My grandfather told me that the gun with a short-range soldiers mockingly said: cim-bum (read: chim-boom).
