Borgward IV unearthed in Austria
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Construction workers discovered a WWII tank during excavation work for Vienna’s new main train station yesterday (Thurs).

Police said the builders stumbled on a German Borgward IV at the site in Favoriten district. The tank, which was built from 1941, was used as a remote-controlled blasting charge carrier. The unmanned vehicle was steered into the danger zone to set off a 450-kilo bomb before being returned. Around 1,100 were produced in the Third Reich.

Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) officials said today the tank would be handed over to Vienna’s Military History Museum (Heeresgeschichtlichen Museum) which is located in Landstraße district.
