Some requests from private collector and museum
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Some requests from private collector and museum

Hello,

the private owner of a Type 95 Ha-Go tank, currently restored in Poland by Lewszyk Engineering Works, is looking for for a Japanese language WWII spare parts list, to help to restore the tank. Do you please have a copy of this list, or do you know where to ask to get it?

Some other requests from the Yad Mordechai Battlefield reconstruction site (Israel) :

1) the museum is looking for a Dingo scout car to buy, in any condition.

2) Another question : is there any logic in the attribution of the painted Registration Numbers on Dingo and Humber armoured cars?
We can see a lot of the Dingo and the Humbers marked with 6 digit and a letter F. Is there any logic in their attribution?

thanks

Pierre-Olivier

I would think someone from the Oregon Military Museum should be able to help with the Type 95 stuff. They have 2 Type 95s, and have restored one. I think one of their volunteers has posted on here, or TankNet.

Regarding the British serial numbers. The 'F' prefix was for all armoured cars and was allocated to both Daimler and Humber scout cars (oddly the LRC series of vehicles had prefix 'M').

Serial numbers were issued to batches of vehicles as they entered service. Daimler SC's appear in photos with four, five and six figure numbers after the 'F'.

Records of the batches of numbers can be hard to track down however the records from the old Chertsey AFV depot in the British National Archive can be useful. Bovington have record cards for some types of vehicles which can be useful too. Otherwise it is a case of matching photos and 'guesstimating' how many numbers either side would go to the same type.

I trust that this helps.
