Post subject: ......"I regret to inform you....."

Two American pilots were killed yesterday july 10th re-enacting a WWI dog fight when one of the planes lost its controls and whent smashing into the other. The exact cause of the control failure is unknown and a fruther investigation is being conducted. in true canadian fashon, moment after the crash a booth was set up to accept donations to help the families with funerals. in the next hour close to 500,000 dollars (CDN) was donated and the famlies are incredibly thankful. I personnaly would like to extend my deepest sympathy to these unknown pilots and their families. I'm sure they died doing what they loved........ flying and putting a show on for the crowds.

May they always fly with the angels Crying or Very sad

It's always sad hearing such news Sad . I saw the Masters of Disaster last year at he Commemorative Air Force air show at Midland.
One of the pilots killed was Jimmy Franklin. I've been a fan of his for many years. Watching him fly the Jet Powered Waco was awsome. His son was the wing walker for him.

I saw the footage of this on the TV in the hotel lobby today and although no names were mentioned, it was tragic to see. Now, to learn that none other than Jimmy Franklin was involved, I don't know what to say, it almost feels personal after following his flying career so much. I've never seen him perform in person but have several videotapes with his stunt flying that I enjoy watching. One of the most talented and energetic pilots that there have ever been. His Waco YMF-3 was amazing, even before he added that jet engine slung under it. Very sad to think that he is gone now and one can't help but feel compassion for his family.

Tailwinds, Jim Franklin and Bobby Younkin.....you'll fly forever in our memories.

yes,,,,a terrible day indeed , I have been hearing this all day in the news.......a couple other things,,,,,the Moosejaw airshow was cancelled immediatly afte this horrific crash being viewed by 20,000 spectators.,,I think though in this situation as sad as it is,,,,these men passed on doing what they loved and lived for.....and I think to have sat down for a conversation with them ,,,,I;m sure many times in their lives, they at one time or another said they would want to go down doing just what they were doing..... flying!!!!!...,,,,,I am deeply sorry for America's and the aviation community's loss over this tragic accident.......
