M1A1 "Constitution Bicentennial Tank"
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: M1A1 "Constitution Bicentennial Tank"

I was perusing some old Armor magazines, and I ran across mention of an M1A1 that left the Detroit Tank Plant on 17 Sept. 1987, the 200th anniversary of the signing of the US Constitution. The tank had a brass plaque inside the turret noting this. It was delivered to 4-8 Cav, 3AD, who had recently won the CAT Trophy.

Does anyone know the current whereabouts of this tank? ... Unit?

That would have also been the 125th anniversary of the Battle of Antietam, The bloddiest single day battle in U.S. History.
