v4.03m installed and bombing missions written to check out the new planes and uh-oh....no bombsight. Screen says it's on but it is not. Next click and the first bracket of bombs drop. Can't hit a thing without the sight.

It's a new install just to try the new planes. No bombing, no fun.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi Ken...my only thought is that maybe you didn't have IL2/FB/AEP/Pacific Fighters patched up to 4.02m before installing the 4.03m patch....

I installed v4.02m and opened to see that the version took, it did. Then did the same procedure for v4.o3m, it took.

Maybe I'm doing something dumb in control options but can't figure what.

The sight is even missing from the He-111 which I shoot at, not fly.

Need a bit more info...

Which plane /planes ?

The only time I have experienced this is...

Sat in pilot seat with full screen (HUD) display ie NO cockpit, if you then press C (default) to switch to nose gunner/ bombadier and then press shift+F1 to bring up the sight....lo and behold no bomb-sight....

you must be in cockpit mode for the sight to show up !!

Or is it that the site has not stabilised on its gyro's ?

to test
assign a key to level stabiliser
start a Quick misision in he 111
immediately the game starts hit your level stab key
go into cockpit mode
press C to switch to bombadier
Shift+F! to go to bomb-sight
you should see a circular sight view with cross hairs

It takes the bombsight 40+ seconds to appear. I was being entirely too impatient by not waiting. Even so, the bombsight is unstable if any manuevering is attempted. This is going to take time to learn proper techniques.

I added rudder trim to my sim panel jsut for this problem.

Ah.......

yep I suggest you take a look at various tutorials on using the bombsight, mine here on Com-C is actually WIP never got round to finishing it lol...

However the accepted way to use it is

Pre- set your intended Bombing altitude and airspeed on the bombsight ( assign keys to Vel inc, dec and Alt inc, dec )

Get you plane to cruise at req Alt and IAS

Be gentle in your turns leading up to lining up on the bomb run

Five minutes away from target lock you plane into level flight using level stab (assign a key )

Go to Bombadier position ( C Key)

Bring up the bomb sight ( shift+F1 )

Set elevation around 82 degrees ( assign keys to elevation inc, dec )

Watch for target in the site and in the map ( M key)

Steer your plane onto the target using rudder trim only (assign keys to L & R trim plus centred )

lock on to your target ( assign key to bombsight auto )

keep adjusting bombsight velocity and rudder trim to keep the crossshairs centred

Drop them eggs in that pickle barrel

Get the hell out of there
