For those who want to simplify a re-install or are going to get into IL2/Pacific Fighters for the first time, this release will make the installation a lot easier with minimal patching to get to the latest version.

If you already have the compete set of CD's for Forgotten Battles, Ace Expansion Pack and Pacific Fighters, there is no new content except for a number of the patches being included on the DVD rather than from download. But for someone who has lost/broken a CD or is just getting into the game, a one disk install will remove a lot of the diffculties, one now has to go through, just to get the game running. Should also provide a lower cost to get all three of the series rather than buying them individually. I remember paying $50 cdn just for Pacific Fighters when it was released. I understand there may be some addons released that may change the version level, but that is yet to be seen.

well now is'nt that a fine howdoyado wonder if we can get a refund as i am sure the DVD is going to be cheaper than buying all 3-4 parts to get the whole game what you think ,,, LOL ,, but as you say real good for the new kids on the block

I brought it the other day as my computer had to reverted back to it's factory settings after it kept crashing (turned out that the RAM had failed).

Buying and then installing right up to Ver4.04 from just one DVD disk was an absolute god send!

Here in the UK you can pick it up from PC World for Ã‚Â£9.99 (approx $17.50).

Man this is just what I've been needing. I haven't been able to play at HL for a while now due to every server going to 4.08m.
Still, I'm going to have to wait til I get my settlement from social security to get new gaming computer and then I'll really be ready to tear up the skies once again.
