Post subject: bodge it!

This is for you Homey....
A bodge is indeed an English term. It's a slang/dialect synonym for
botch. The meaning given in the dictionary is usually along the lines
of "to make a mess of some thing or activity". But in use in the
Midlands, UK, it is often used to describe the formation of an ugly
or
useless hybrid using a slapdash approach, as in "to bodge it together
from X and Y".

Example:
Small cars powered by rockets attached using duct tape.

lets hope we got it right lol...

note: any information or advice given is purely the opinion of the helper, any responsibility for uncompatable hardware lies with the asker (buthead),
my information is as correct as the data available, found thru web searches etc, the final decision is yours!

footnote: on occasions i have found to be wrong, the above disclaimer seperates me from any stupid mistakes made by the asker (You), good luck in your future venture, and i hope to see you online again soon. hopefully LOL..

On reciept of your payment for services rendered, i will foward the 2 rolls of duct tape as agreed free or charge. www.bodge-it.com

LOL what Banshee is referring too is a little mistake I made today ! I purchased a new puter thinking I could put 2 vid cards in it from the info I--->(butthead1) got from the sales person--->(butthead2) He said I could put two vid cards in this one and me being dumb as I am believed him and bought 2 vid cards with the puter. So when I get home and start unpacking it I discover it has only one PCIe x16 slot in it and is not SLI MB Evil or Very Mad . I get online and low and behold there is Banshee online just dying to help me.. Rolling Eyes . Being the inventive person he is, he says just put a new SLI MB in it and 2 hours later I've ordered a new MB after he checked if everything in new puter will work with new MB. So basically I botched this up only to piece togther something that we hope works or in other words hopefully not to offend anyone I'm afro engineering this one..LOL.

Well Hitman let me think on that....lol. The selection of available puters around is very thin and me not being patience enough to build one...hmmm which I'm basically doing now....lol and waiting for all those parts like Kit did and wanting it NOW! I bought what I thought was the best around here. Having very good luck with HP in the past as one of the few company built puters easy to upgrade...ie: sound cards, vid cards ,ram I felt comfortable with it.

Now here a question to all you puter heads out there. Given the MB purchase I'm patiencely wating on now...lol, what would ya'll put with it to build a puter compared to what I'm going to have for $1275.00. I'm thinking now that the first question from Banshee might have been right.."Why didn't you build one?" Now it Sunday morning and I'm laying there in the bed wondering if I took this puter back to the store, keep the vid cards could I build one better and faster. The puter itself cost me $750. So now I need to buy all the rest of the stuff to build one from scratch remebering now that I have the MB, vid cards. Im going to do a little research myself this morning and post what I come up with and few comments & suggestions from ya'll would be greatly apprieciated on the componets that need to be installed with this MB! I would like to do most of my shopping here:

www.tigerdirect.com/

as I have an account there and have good luck with them in the past so please look for the parts there. THNX!

By the way Fled she was right there with me and she even wrote the check.... Laughing

got a monitor?

My portable TV died in the computer room (women not allowed), so I went and bought a Samsung Sync Master 940MW (19") flat screen TV to replace it, I don't often watch TV but told the wife I needed one to watch the last F1 race, as it happened it wasn't the last race that's the next one.

Anyways, I went for the 19" as it had a DVI socket on the back and I thought I'd use it as an occasional second monitor. Man was I supprised at the picture quality from the computer, it is excellent, I was so impressed I was going to buy the company but they want too much money for it so I googled about and found Samsung do a 24" Monitor 1900x1200 the SM244T.

So Homey, have a look at the Samsung SM244T monitor, if it's as good as the reviews say it is let me know and I'll get one.

The Samsung and Viewsonic 19" TFTs have been getting rave reviews by other builders over on BYO.
I have a Viewsonic myself but they're both the same.
Look for contrast (high is good) & response times (low is good).
Good prices too

Oh yea Shades I have a 19" Sony Xbrite LCD monitor with 800:1 contrast and 4ms reponse time. Also a Aura Vision slim series back lighted keyboard, optical mouse, 250 mb external HD and a spare 16x Lightscribe DVD writer to go with new puter. External HD used only for storage.

Hmmm....LOL that must be why that sales person is working at BestBuy now!

Homey listen to Mick.... personaly i would walk right back into that store and demand refund, the guy gave you bad advice, thats enough to warrant a return n refund, also why the hell let him get away with it.

if that dont work try the headbutt technique lol,

build your own system from scratch, as thats what your gonna hafta do with the heap of junk HP anyhow....
