Saumur backlot photos, 1970s?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Some early colour photos from (I'm guessing) Saumur.

yes, that's Saumur, for sure. I recognize some of the vehicles.

Yes, most of these vehicles are covered on PTC - if you click on a particular tank and look through its photos, those taken in the 1980s match closely with those above:

Preserved Tanks at Saumur

For example:

Pre-production Jagdpanzer IV
Panther

It's complicated by the fact that Saumur has since given away many 'duplicate' vehicles. I think the Hummel shown is the one now in Germany, Panthers have gone for restoration to Germany, Falaise, and elsewhere, etc. (see the links at the top of the saumur page).

What's the source of these pictures? I'd love to add them to PTC.

hello,

well, I don't think this photo shows the collection from Saumur, but rather the outside storage of wrecks and vehicles used for trials at Bourges (there is a factory of military vehicles; the Army Maintenance Superior School and the Bourges Technical Establishment (ETBS) storage area over there).

An interesting array of armour there. I can see three Panther hulls, a PzIV, what looks like a Brumbar, along with 2 Shermans and 1 M10 (?).
What's the large, box shaped, superstructure mid left, behind the Panther with the missing side armour?

A video here, shows a variety of Tiger 1 bits, amongst the massive heaps of bits in Saumur's back lot.

I think you are speaking about the Lorraine automoteur 155mm prototype (155mm howitzer on Lorraine chassis), built in 1952.
