I don't think they'll let me handicap you by making you ride two-up on the strip, but I bet we can come to some kind of terms on the lights in the Mustang, Bristol being all sophisticated that way.

Two-up? Oh, my spouse doesn't ride with me ever. Just not into it. I was thinking more like a solo pass. It's just a little 650 after all.

Yeah, I've ridden that "just a little 650" in another Suzuki platform. I think you might well take the first 1/8th...it's the second 8th I'd be counting on. Wink
I have some doubts about officials letting cars and bikes run against either other (for safety reasons should someone depart their assigned lane) but not sure. I don't recall ever seeing it done.

If you brought the 'Stang, there'd be other roads to explore. I kinda' council against summer, because the mountains get pretty freakin' congested with touristas.

Are you perchance familiar with "Deal's Gap", aka the Angel's Crest of the East?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...h_Carolina

See also, "Tail of the Dragon". Wink

Yep I've heard of Deal's Gap and it sounds interesting. I don't want to mess with "Tail Of The Dragon" though... I'm sure it would be fun and all, but the people, rather than the road, are what I don't think I want to deal with. I've developed a nice inventory of local twisty roads that over the course of a day make for an exciting time and see hardly any traffic whatsoever.

Yeah I think we need nice cool non-summertime air to make max horsepower anyways... Wink

Good point on the safety aspects of running mixed-media. Hadn't thought of that.

So'd you take delivery yet or what??!?!!!!

Not yet, was waiting out the big mega-storm that just blew through (and blew it did). Car is 60 miles away or so and I didn't want to drive back on nasty, wet roads....it's rained on and off all week (and they just completed the "de-striping" yesterday). I'm thinking Saturday, weather permitting (driveway is being redone and I'm tidying up the garage for the new arrival).

Hey, it's just grading and more gravel, but it will dispense with the puddles.

Well, it's still a work in progress at the dealership, but here's what they sent me today....

"First Look"

...can't have mud gettin' on them wheels! Laughing

Awesome! It's like having a Von Dutch pinstripe job on top of a vinyl wrap treatment!!!! Are they getting the aftermarket single-exhaust fart-can muffler system installed this week or is that gonna be after the first service?

Well, I don't want to give too much away, but can you say "faux white fur upholstery"? Wink

...and the chassis/wheelwell neons are going to make the look.

Well, it's finally in the hangar. Has made three trips trips to-from Raleigh to pick me up and with 250 miles on it (freeway and surface street miles) it's averaged 20.4 mpg, which is better than the Pathfinder in mixed driving (well, low profile and tall sixth gear). Tomorrow I'll hit the Autozone and buy a mess of Meguiars or Mother's stuff for detailing. Tonight, it sits on the trickle charger, since it's had almost two years of lot time. There is not a trace of fade where the stripes were removed.

If you're gonna have a ride of that caliber, you need to "speak the speak".

"...and the shinizle/whinizle nizzle are going to make the linizle." Razz

Glad it's safely home, enjoy. Also, forgot that a guy at work just got one about 3 weeks ago. Black with black & red leather interior. Never been a fan of red leather but it's more of a blood red (dark) than the bright red on the old Cadillacs.

Miss Manners sez: Never in anything made since 1959. And even then, only if the top comes down and there are only two seats. Laughing

Well, I have to admit, that's a stunner alright.

However, I'm a little disappointed that a squaddie with the good taste to have owned a '68 Cougar would be into any Cadillacs other than the much heralded '80-'89 Seville:

www.empirelambda.com/w.../04/s4.jpg

...and ideally, the ever sought after "Opry Coop" with dual fender mounted spares:

Where unavailable, the "Continentla Kit" with twin chrome straps for the boot are a reasonable second choice...

I wonder if any of these guys will trade straight across for an SRT8 wth 261 "original miles"?

Only if you put on that Daytona Kit...and throw a spoked tire on the trunk. Wink

The beautiful 1980 Seville was a not so fond childhood memory of mine and is the reason for my distaste for the infamous red interior. As a kid I would walk to my friends house before school and from there his Mother would give us a ride to school in her Red with Red leather interior Seville. This was also around the time that I saw "The Shining" in the theatres.

Needless to say, everytime I climbed into that car all I could think was "Redrum, Redrum" Laughing
