M4A1(76) VVSS Shermans in South Africa
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Hello,

I'm looking for photos of M4A1(76) Shermans in South Africa. Photos on the internet are quite difficult to find...
This is in order to update this new register ;

thanks

P-O

P-O, I wrote a draft of a Preserved Tanks in South Africa book with William Marshall - if you didn't see it, you're welcome to a PDF copy.

Trevor,

thanks for your help. I've seen your Preserved Tanks in South Africa book, but it's nearly impossible to find recent photos of some of the tanks on the internet (such as the tanks located in Army Battle School, Lohatla).

Pierre-Olivier

I have nothing more recent than in that book. Apparently the Battle School has since been renamed South African Army Combat Training Centre (ACTC): www.actc.army.mil.za/
