Post subject: THe saddest website ever....

...it'll bring tears to the eyes of all real American men...and maybe a few women. It's amazing just how much truely semi-exotic stuff is out there. Superbirds, Shelby's, etc....

WARNING: Don't look at the pics on the many pages unless you're alone.

I....I'm sorry.....I just need a little time to myself now..... Crying or Very sad

This one especially breaks my heart, it is the exact car and same colour that a good friend of mine had back in the early 70's....a 1970 Hemi Super Bird that went like frikin stink and made ya wish that seat belts were made mandatory in cars lol.

Great site, I have been to it quite a bit. Seeing cars like that left to rot away sickens me.

BTW, here is my ride. 1972 GS, 455 Stage 1, 4 Speed. I wish summer was here!!! Smile

Why is it that, with technology and evolution, older cars are so much more sexy than todays?
Car manufacturers take note!

Corollary: Why is it that retro-Mustang's are flying off of the lot, when they can't give GTO's away with 100 horsepower more? (they've been out longer and I've seen exactly ONE "GTO" on the street)

Inspiration, style, idiosyncracies in the design. I don't want to drive a watermelon seed even if it has 500 horsepower.

Not an old car in any way shape or form but I thought u guys would appreciate it.
It's a long clip (taken from the UK programme "Top Gear") of a test drive of a new car called "the atom" by the host Jeremey Clarkson, who is known for not understanding the 1st thing about political correctness lolol.
video.google.com/video...1893889573

Ooo, it's worth watching all the way through to see the affects of acceleration on Jezza's ugly mush and then the test by a professional driver at the end (The "Stig"). lol

Ain't Jezza the best?
Has a dreadful habit of upsetting everyone in the whole world at once and laughing when asked to apologise.

Post subject: Re: THe saddest website ever....

I watched him a couple of times and found him to be an ignorant d**k who didn't know the first thing about cars. The most memorable example of his primary interest, Yank-bashing (funny how the same country that ran it's auto industry so far into the ground that it no longer has one of it's own to speak of makes criticising 'Murican cars a national pastime)....was when he evaluated a Ford F-150 Lightning pickup or something...and made a show of demonstrating how ridiculous the large bed was by going shopping for HIS needs. I think he bought a chem/pressed fireplace log (instead of a load of wood, because his flat didn't allow real wood fires) and went to the store and bought a set of picture hangars and a couple of six-packs or something...to illustrate the uselessness of a pickup truck. Just 'cause he's a gentrified schmuck doesn't mean capacity isn't a useful thing...he's just sore because all his capacity is in his gut.

IIRC, he also commented that it handled "like a truck"( Rolling Eyes ) and was just way too wide to fit on some of the narrow alleys he negotiates. His criterion is that if a vehicle doesn't meet HIS needs, it sucks. That's not journalism....I wont' comment on what it is, but it ain't journalism...

I've seen a few of those Lightnings running mid 11 second quarter mile times at the local drag strip here with only slight modifications. With that kind of straightline horsepower who gives a rats ass if it handles like a truck (which it is). Mr. Green

You show great depth of understanding, honorable Akira-san. Moreso than a certain bubble-headed TV personality more focused on biting sarcasm than conveying useful information!

(He doesn't explain the comment in the video about having the "wind in your helmet"...while wearing a full face rig. I have one and can only conclude that the wind was already inside his helmet...)

See ?
lololol

The same country that ran it's auto industry so far into the ground that it no longer has one of it's own to speak of, actually likes Murican cars. Jezza may not do but, as you say, he speaks for cars He likes not the rest of us. He's not partisan btw, he also disses the UK and UK cars (he was blamed for single-handedly bringing about the demise of the Rover Group), but his passion is for dissing German cars.
Don't like his politics, but I love his presentation.
